As we age, we naturally start to lose collagen and elastin in our skin, two key components for keeping skin firm and youthful. While we all wish we could get rid of signs of aging, spontaneous blemishes, uncomfortable dryness and irritation, these changes won't happen without changing our current skin care routine.
1.Stick to the Basics
When it comes to skin care, sometimes less is more -- especially if you want to avoid irritation. Don't overthink your current routine, and make sure you stick with your core products. For example, moisturize daily with a mild, non-comedogenic formula.
2.Easy exfoliation
Since cell renewal slows with age, exfoliating can be helpful if you want to restore dull, dull skin. It's important to note, though, that some physical exfoliators can be overly irritating to the skin.
3.Don't Disrupt Your Skin’s pH
For our skin's acidic mantle to function properly, it needs an optimal -- slightly acidic -- pH of around 5.5. When that number fluctuates too much, all sorts of things can happen, including spontaneous breakthroughs or skin irritation. Avoid harsh formulations that can alkalize the skin, depriving it of its natural oils and leaving the skin barrier vulnerable.
4.Protect Against Free Radicals and UV Rays
Free radicals and uv rays can wreak havoc on your skin. Use a broad-spectrum SPF of 30 or higher every day, and be sure to cover it with antioxidant-rich products.
